Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Project Manager with development of design basis, budgets, schedules, and coordination across engineering disciplines.

  • Participating in project planning and design, ensuring alignment with technical and regulatory requirements.

  • Performing detailed engineering calculations and specifying equipment.

  • Reviewing, validating, and compiling engineering drawings and design documents.

  • Collaborating with drafting teams to produce deliverables such as Plot Plans, PFDs, P&IDs, Isometrics, and 3D models.

  • Preparing Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and conducting thorough evaluations of vendor quotations, including bid comparisons and technical equalization.

  • Developing technical documentation and design information for regulatory applications and project approvals.

  • Delivering key engineering lists such as Specialty Items Lists, Line Lists, Equipment Lists, and Valve Lists.

  • Providing technical support and guidance to field teams, contractors, and subcontractors during construction, installation, and commissioning activities.

  • Ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and governing regulations.

  • Engaging in continuous professional development and working toward professional engineering designation.

  • May start by using established procedures under direct supervision to conduct work and ongoing training to working under general guidance, working on routine business process by assisting business technical and professionals in a variety of business areas

  • Works under the direction of a senior project engineer or project manager

  • Demonstrate effective control of project cost expenditures

  • Provide monthly report on project performance metrics

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the numerous department stakeholders expectations and expert contributions and how they can contribute to the project success

  • Promote and Manage project safety, participate in incident investigations

  • Support the development and implementation of project management tools, standards and processes to support the implementation of capital and maintenance programs within Canada

  • Assist Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer in all aspects to ensure success of multiple projects

  • Developing technical documents and design information for regulatory applications

  • Perform design calculations including hydraulic line sizing calculations, mechanical piping stress calculations, PSV sizing, and equipment sizing for various unit processes, and provide the associated documentation

  • Develop and check Plot Plans, P&IDs, Piping Plans, and isometric drawings

  • Oversee the review of equipment technical bid submissions

  • Provide regular updates on work progress to support preparation of cost and schedule reports

  • Participate in the implementation of corporate quality and safety standards into the projects

  • Perform quality assurance function for work products before they are submitted to the project team

Qualifications and Experience

  •  Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) with eligibility and desire for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation

  • At least 1-2 years of applicable experience

  • Operation experience is an asset

  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards
